Cinema as a subject for social scientific probe rests primarily on the question of the extent
it depicts society and its culture, and on the other, shapes a particular social-culture.
Broadly we encounter two kinds of cinema, popularly phrased as art/auteur films and commercial/mainstream films. We examine why commercial cinema is more participative
and therefore holds key position in unraveling cultural politics of a society.
