Buddhist Posters and votive cards collected in Tibetan areas of China from
2001-2006 depict Tibet as a Buddhist "pure realm," the divine abode of a
Buddhist deity. These images conspicuously avoid or deliberately remove
any visual signification of modernity, Chinese culture, or the socialist
upheaval and transformation of Tibet, while simulatenously communicating
coded messages regarding ideal power relations.
